On Christmas Day we enjoyed a potluck dinner at Dockside, with turkey, dressing, and gravy provided by the management, and tons of other dishes brought by the cruisers and live-aboards. We also joined the New Year’s Eve party there. Thanks to Stewart and Ellen, we received a huge package of Christmas cards and gifts soon after New Year.

Picture this: It was 5 PM on January 2nd and we were lounging in our cockpit. The late afternoon sun painted shore buildings, trees, and anchored boats with liquid gold. A bright blue Florida sky arched over the shimmering blue-green water; Christmas music floated on the air and the warm breeze swayed the tops of the shoreside coconut palms. We sipped cold beer, opening family presents, and enjoying cards and notes from family and friends new and old. Surely . . . . this was Paradise.
